VOOPOO Drag 5.
Resistance, wattage and draw
This is an open, straight-to-the-lungs build. More vapour also means a cartridge that empties faster and a shorter run between charges.
The 5 to 177 W range is set up for that. The 0.05 to 3 Ω resistance band shows which coils are in play: it wants low resistances below 0.5 Ω and a low-strength liquid, because at this vapour volume a high strength becomes unbearable quickly.
Strong nicotine salts are firmly wrong for this device. Pairing a large vapour volume with twenty milligrams of salt is the second most common beginner mistake.
Battery: removable cell
VOOPOO Drag 5 runs on a 18650 cell, which is not included. Cells are dangerous goods in transport, so no shop ships them with the device.
Instead of waiting you swap the cell. After two or three years you buy a cell rather than a whole device.
In exchange you take on responsibility for the cell. A torn wrap gets replaced, not taped, because a short inside the device is a fire risk. Loose in a pocket a cell has no business being, because coins and keys bridge the terminals.
The right cartridge platform
VOOPOO Drag 5 runs on the PnP X platform. PnP X 0.15Ω / 0.3Ω (mesh) are included. That is the detail that decides a repeat purchase, not the model name.
VOOPOO runs several cartridge systems in parallel and they look alike enough to be confused. PnP X and PnP are not mechanically interchangeable, whatever the name suggests. Once the seal is broken a return is out on hygiene grounds.
Coil life is usually one to three weeks. The flavouring sets the pace, not the device. When the taste first goes flat and then turns bitter, the coil is finished and rinsing will not save it.
One rule on first use: wait five minutes after filling. Fire it dry and you scorch the cotton, and that taste stays until you replace it. Everything we stock is under cartridges and coils, the rest of the range under VOOPOO Drag.
Everyday handling
Reading resistance off the screen is the simplest way to catch a tired coil before it burns.
Body material is Zinc Alloy + Leather. Metal and matte surfaces survive a pocket full of keys far better than lacquered plastic.
The measurements in practice
It measures 55.09 mm × 27.40 mm × 142.40 mm. This is a jacket-pocket or bag device rather than a shirt-pocket one. If you want to carry it discreetly, look at a compact model.
At 156.58 g the device sits noticeably in the hand. That is not automatically a fault: some mass reads as solidity and slips from the fingers less often.
These two figures decide more in daily use than they are given credit for. Too large and it stays on the desk, too small and it is on the cable by midday, and either way you find out after a week rather than at unboxing.
Box contents and running costs
Included are PnP X 0.15Ω / 0.3Ω (mesh) plus a USB-C cable. There is no mains adapter, as with most manufacturers; any phone charger will do.
What is not included is liquid. That is what local shops are for, and the choice depends on the resistance you run: higher resistance and a tight draw want nicotine salts, low resistance and an open draw need low-strength freebase.
The serial number on the box can be verified at voopoo.com. A device that cannot be confirmed is better returned than used.
Against the rest of the range
Within one range the devices sit closer together than the names suggest. What separates them is usually the battery and the wattage ceiling, less often the feel of the draw.
- VOOPOO Drag 6: regulates to 220 W and opens the door to lower resistances.
- VOOPOO Drag E60: only regulates to 60 W, which is ample for a tight draw.
- VOOPOO Drag H40: only regulates to 40 W, which is ample for a tight draw.
The comparison worth making runs in one direction above all: is the cartridge platform the same. If it is, the two devices share a stock of consumables and the second costs only its purchase price. If it is not, you are buying a second range of cartridges alongside it.
Colour, finish and wear
VOOPOO Drag 5 comes in 7 finishes, among them 5 matte or satin, 2 gloss, 3 with a gradient. The difference is not only visual and it shows after the first week.
Matte surfaces barely take skin oil and rarely need wiping; gloss looks better on a shelf and carries visible marks within two days.
If you want the device to stay discreet, take a plain dark tone. If you want to show it, take a gradient.
Every colour above carries a photo of the actual unit, not a recoloured stock image.
Who it is built for
This is for someone already vaping who knows the regime they want. Anyone just coming off cigarettes will almost certainly not get on with it: the open draw feels alien, and the low-strength liquid it demands does not satisfy in the first days.
Capacity covers a working day at moderate use; vape heavily and it is worth having a cable to hand in the afternoon.
A check on three points is worth it before paying: cartridge platform, firing method and dimensions. All three are listed above, and they are where buyer's regret usually comes from.
What is in the box and the 2 ml tank
The cartridge supplied with VOOPOO Drag 5 holds 2 ml. We stock the European edition of the range, where the refillable tank is capped at that figure, and the same revision ships to every market we serve.
International listings for the same model sometimes quote larger numbers because they describe an edition built for another market. For the goods that go in the box, the figure in the spec table above is the one that counts.
A smaller tank has no effect on flavour, coil life or runtime. You refill more often, and that is the whole difference.
Warranty, authenticity and what we do not claim
VOOPOO Drag 5 carries the manufacturer's warranty. Consumable parts, meaning cartridges and coils, are not covered for normal wear: spent cotton is the expected result of use, not a defect.
The serial number on the box can be verified at voopoo.com. We are an independent retailer, not connected to VOOPOO and not authorised by VOOPOO; the brand is named here only to identify the goods sold.
We do not claim that vaping is safe and we do not sell it as a way to quit smoking. We sell to adults only. If you do not smoke and do not use nicotine, there is no reason to start.
What size tank does the VOOPOO Drag 5 have?
It holds 2 ml. We stock the European edition of the range, and the same revision ships to every market we serve. Larger figures on manufacturer listings describe an edition built for another market.
How does the Drag 5 charge?
Charging is over Type‑C 5V/3A. A cable is included; a mains adapter usually is not, so any phone charger will do.
How many watts is the Drag 5?
Output is 5 - 177 W. For nicotine salts and a tight mouth-to-lung draw the lower end of that range is plenty; the upper end is meant for a more open lung draw at low resistance.
Which coils fit the Drag 5?
The device works across 0.05 - 3.0 Ω. The lower the resistance, the more vapour and the higher the drain on liquid and battery. If you drop the resistance, drop the nicotine strength too, because each draw vaporises more liquid.
What colours does the Drag 5 come in?
The Drag 5 comes in 7 colours. Technically nothing changes between them; the choice is purely visual. Matte, and therefore resistant to finger marks, are Black, Green, Sakura Pink. Gradient finishes are Gradient Blue, Gradient Brown, Sunset Orange.
What is the Drag 5 body made of?
The body is Zinc Alloy + Leather. That drives weight and grip more than colour does: metal feels cooler and heavier in the hand, plastic and aluminium stay light.
How quickly does the Drag 5 arrive?
Orders paid before 15:00 on a working day leave the warehouse the same day and normally arrive within one to two working days. Every colour is in stock; we do not take pre-orders.
