Adjustable hardware and when it pays

A box mod hands control of the wattage back to the user. Instead of a curve set by the manufacturer you set the watts, sometimes the temperature, and on some models the ramp itself. This is not an exercise for its own sake: the same coil tastes different at 18 W and at 28 W, and which figure is right depends on the liquid rather than on the device.

The 8 devices gathered here run 1500 to 4400 mAh and regulate to 220 W. Two builds sit side by side: a built-in battery charged over USB-C, and removable 18650 or 21700 cells where you fit a charged cell instead of waiting.

Built-in battery or removable cell

Built-in batteries are more convenient and slimmer. They charge like a phone, there is nothing to watch and nothing to insert the wrong way round. The drawback appears after a year or two: when the cell weakens, the whole device weakens.

Removable cells are the opposite bargain. You need an external charger, an intact wrap and, with two cells, matched use. In exchange a flat device is ready in thirty seconds, and after three years you buy a cell rather than a new mod. On removable-cell models the spec table states explicitly whether a cell is included. As a rule it is not, because in transport it counts as dangerous goods.

The wattage number is not a buying argument

Practically nobody will use the two hundred and twenty watts of the largest device. It is the ceiling of the control circuit, not a recommendation. The lower limit is more interesting: a device that regulates cleanly from 5 W suits MTL with a 1.2 Ω coil. One that only starts at 20 W does not.

The second point, rarely shown on a spec sheet, is response time. A good circuit fires within a few milliseconds and holds the set wattage through the whole draw. That is what you feel in use, not the maximum number of watts.

Everything here is the European edition

Colour does not change the price

Every finish of one model costs the same, because only the shell differs. Battery, wattage, cartridge platform and box contents are identical across variants, so choosing a colour is a question of taste and of how visible wear will be.

The difference shows elsewhere. Matte and satin surfaces barely take skin oil and stay tidy for weeks; gloss looks better on a shelf and carries visible hand marks within two days. Light tones show edge wear sooner, dark ones hold dust more visibly.

Dispatch and returns

Orders paid on a working day before 15:00 leave the warehouse the same day, others the next working day. Delivery normally takes one to two working days, and the tracking number goes out by email as soon as it ships.

Returns run to fourteen days from delivery and need no reason. Cartridges and coils cannot be taken back once the protective seal is broken, on hygiene grounds; unopened, we take them back without argument.
